Project management concerning the circular built environment

Conférence présentée dans le cadre du processus de sélection du poste de professeur.e adjoint.e en gestion de projet.

Résumé
In this lecture, Dr Piero Medici will illustrate several aspects of some European case studies’ design and construction process. The lecture will refer to concepts such as environmental design, circularity in the built environment and the sharing of common resources.

Dr Piero Medici will analyze several projects where he worked as an architect or researched during his academic career. He will illustrate several contemporary and past examples, mainly European, where design processes concerned the circular economy.

The project design, construction and post-use phases were characterized by the reuse of materials, social, economic and environmental circularity. Throughout the projects, architects took different roles, not only as designers but also as initiators, project managers, developers, mediators, researchers, and engineers. The lecture will explore the work of British architects Secondary Use Group (SUG) during the 1970s, of the contemporary Dutch practices Superuse Studios and Space & Matter, to cite some.
