Call to Action | Climate Action Questionnaire for the Canadian Architectural Community

10 juill. 2020 - 31 juill. 2020

Canadian Architects Declare + Toronto Society of Architects

Announcement :

Questionnaire closes July 31, 2020 at midnight

You’ve signed the pledge, now its time to take action!

Back in September 2019, the TSA Executive issued a letter making a commitment to work with our membership to formulate an action plan and identify resources that would enable and support our members, practices and Society to more effectively and collaboratively address the climate emergency.

As part of this commitment, and in collaboration with Architects Declare, we are launching a Climate Action Questionnaire to better understand the state of our practices today as they relate to issues of sustainability and resiliency. The questions will help identify tools, strategies and resources that can inform a shared action plan amongst the architectural community and pinpoint knowledge gaps so that we can build our collective capacity.

By taking part in this questionnaire you will have a direct impact on our future programming and initiatives, actively contributing in building shared resources across the design community.

The questionnaire is broken into three large categories:

  • Our Work, focusing on the practice of architecture;
  • Our Offices, focused on business practices and management;
  • and Our Associations, focused on the role of regulators and advocate bodies.

We encourage you to make this questionnaire a group discussion within your teams and studios, using it as an opportunity to discuss sustainability and the climate crisis in the context of your practice. You can use the downloadable version of the questionnaire to help guide the discussion and then submit the group’s answers using our online form.

The questionnaire will close on July 31, 2020 at midnight. Responses will then be aggregated with individual answers kept anonymous and results shared shortly after through the TSA website and bulletin.

The climate emergency requires urgent and sustained action to ameliorate its effects and we are committed to working with our members to ensure we are equipped with the knowledge, resources and skills to do our part to respond to this crisis.”
