Announcement :

Interior design, product design and architecture industry professionals are invited to submit their projects and products to the 23rd edition of the Best of Canada Awards Competition.

While we cannot ignore the magnitude of the disruption that COVID-19 has brought to our industry and our lifestyles, the team at Canadian Interiors strongly believe that it is still important – perhaps more so – to continue to follow our mandate of celebrating the best and brightest projects and products created by the exceptionally creative and talented professionals within the Canadian interior design industry. Great work is still being done during these difficult times, and its creators deserve to be recognized and commemorated.

As such, we are continuing to move forward with the Best of Canada competition, with the deadline for submissions of May 8 still in effect, with judging and announcement of the winners in the July-August issue scheduled to take place as planned. We are continuing to monitor the current global health emergency and will provide relevant updates as they relate to the Best of Canada competition as necessary.

Canadian Interiors is accepting submissions for the 2020 Best of Canada Awards, a national interior design awards program. It is Canada’s only design competition focusing on interior design projects and products without regard to size, budget or location. Submissions are welcome from interior designers, architects, landscape architects, decorators, crafts persons and design students.

Projects and products are each judged anonymously and on their individual merit by a jury of esteemed architecture and design professionals, each expert in their areas of focus. Judging will take place in late May, 2020, and all winners will be published in the Awards issue of Canadian Interiors in July 2020, with the Project of the Year winner featured on the cover of the Awards issue. Additionally, the Judges’ Pick winner of the Products category will receive a trip package (incl. flight + hotel) to Paris, France to attend Maison+Objet as a VIP in January, 2021, courtesy of Maison+Objet.

Projects must have been completed between June, 2018 and June, 2020. The project must be either located in Canada, or an international project where a member of the design team is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

Products must be physically prototyped; or if in production must have been launched in the market in the same timeframe.

“At 23 years and counting, the Best of Canada design competition is not only alive and well, but also healthier than ever,” says Peter Sobchak, editor in chief of Canadian Interiors. “This annual awards program was created to showcase innovation, originality, and excellence within the interior design industry. It celebrates the outstanding work done consistently by our A+D industry peers, and is an opportunity for projects to be reviewed by top industry professionals.”

Entries must be received via the online entry system by 11:59 pm Friday, May 8, 2020.” [NOTE AS OF MAY 8 2020: Deadline is extended until September 10 2020]
