Vernissage – Antonina Cagara – "Les Milles Lieux"

“”Les Milles Lieux: a collection of travel drawings and paintings”

I started to draw at an age of about thirteen. At fifteen, I moved from my native Poland to Ottawa, Ontario, where I began my artistic education in high school. Subsequently, I studied architecture at McGill University in Montreal and in 2008 graduated with a Masters Degree. Having spent a lot of time studying design, experimenting with colour, texture, material and subject, I try to translate some of that same frivolousness onto paper, in the form of drawings, paintings and photography.

The show “Les MillesLieux” consists of drawings and paintings executed over the last few years of my student and nonstudent life, while traveling across Eastern Canada, Europe, Central and South America. It is dedicated to the study of places and capturing their inherent aura.
