Laureate – RIBA Stirling Prize – "MAXXI Museum in Rome by Zaha Hadid Architects"

“MAXXI, the National Museum of XXI Century Arts in Rome by Zaha Hadid Architects has won the coveted £20,000 RIBA Stirling Prize 2010, in association with The Architects Journal and Benchmark.

The winner was announced at the RIBA Stirling Prize Dinner on 2 October, and broadcast live on BBC Two’s The Culture Show, presented by Kevin McCloud.

The RIBA Stirling Prize is given for the RIBA Building of the Year. It is run in association with The Architects’ Journal and Benchmark and is presented to the architects of the building which has been the most significant for the evolution of architecture in the past year.

The winning architect receives a cash prize of £20,000. The prize is named after the great British architect Sir James Stirling (1926-1992).
