Deadline – Nominations and submissions for the RAIC Gold Medal and Architectural Firm Award

“The RAIC Gold Medal is awarded in recognition of a significant body of work deemed to be a major contribution to Canadian architecture, and having lasting influence on the theory and/or the practice of architecture, either – through demonstrated excellence in design; and/or, excellence in research or education. Any individual, living or dead, may be nominated to receive the Gold Medal. In exceptional circumstances, the Gold Medal may be awarded to more than one individual architect where it is clearly demonstrated that the nominees have individually and collectively met the selection criteria.

New this year is a stand-alone Architectural Firm Award, formerly offered as part of the RAIC Awards of Excellence. Both recipients will now be chosen by the same jury. The Architectural Firm Award is to recognize an architectural firm or practice that has consistently produced distinguished architecture. The award recognizes the achievements of the firm for its quality of architecture, its service to its clients, its innovations in practice, contributions to architectural education and to professional institutions and associations and public recognition. Those eligible include architectural firms or architectural practices which are resident in Canada or have their principal office located in Canada, and possess the appropriate Certificate of Practice or authorization to practice as required by the provincial licensing authorities, and who have been together as an organization or as successor firm for at least ten years

Nominations and submissions for both awards must be received by 4:00pm on Friday, December 11, 2009.”
