Annonce:
“Bonjour,
Voici quelques informations sur la sixième réunion de la saison 2013/2014:
REBUILDING NEW ZEALAND’S POST-SEISMIC CHRISTCHURCH:
It’s all about damage control
18h / mardi (au lieu de l’habituel mercredi) 1er avril 2014
UNIVERSITÉ McGILL
Pavillon Macdonald-Harrington, Salle G-10
ALISTAIR FUSSELL
Steel Construction New Zealand
The New Zealand city of Christchurch is still a shadow of what it once was before the devastating 2011 earthquake. The number of demolished buildings is over 1000 and still rising.
As a result of such devastation there is now a greater appetite for developers to pay a small premium to implement better performing seismic load resisting systems that not only preserve life, but also minimise structural damage and the time to regain building function after a severe earthquake.
Several solutions are being applied including Eccentrically Braced Frames with removable links and Rocking Steel Braced Frames.
This session will provide a brief overview of background research and emphasise applications and lessons learned.
Cette conférence sera présentée en anglais.”
