25th anniversary – IIDEX/NeoCon Canada

“For 25 years, IIDEX/NeoCon Canada has been an industry leader and this anniversary year is no exception. This year celebrates their 25th anniversary and the 75th anniversary of ARIDO, owners of IIDEX/NeoCon Canada. Plus their newest show partner, the Green Building Festival, celebrates their 5th anniversary by co-locating with IIDEX.

This year’s lineup includes:

Special Programming for Architects

  • Green Building Festival celebrates its 5th anniversary by joining forces with IIDEX to create the most comprehensive exposition and conference focused on sustainable buildings, architecture, products and services for architects and designers.
  • The World Green Building Council’s Leaders Summit will be the first time the WorldGBC brings together Canadian and international industry leaders and policy experts to discuss the enormous potential green buildings can provide as nations work to reduce their carbon emissions and discuss the potential for green building development strategies as an integral part of a new low-carbon economy. Speakers include Indian architect Karan Grover, and Frank Biden, advisor to the Obama Administration.
  • Twenty + Change returns bigger than ever with a national focus on emerging architectural practices. This year’s exhibition profiles emerging designers working in architecture, landscape and urban design. Two seminars specifically relating to emerging practices take place on Thursday, September 24, 2009: T13 – Twenty + Change: 2009 Canadian Design Practices runs from 11:30am – 1:30pm, and T17 – Twenty + Change: Emerging Models of Practice runs from 2:30pm – 3:30pm.
  • Keep on top of the green architecture scene by visiting the winners of the Toronto Society of Architects 4th annual poster competition on Green Design.
  • Step out to the suburbs by exploring Fringe Benefits: Cosmopolitan Dynamics of a Multicultural City exhibition, presented by Toronto architect and Canadian Architect editor Ian Chodikoff. On Friday, September 25, 2009, seminar F16 – Fringe Benefits: Cosmopolitan Dynamics for a Multicultural City runs from11:45am – 12:45pm.
  • Architecture students take centre stage on Friday, September 25, 2009 with the 2nd annual Architectural Students Charrette. Make sure to stop by and check out this interactive show favourite. The charrette will take place on September 24, 2009 on the show floor.
  • Celebrate the best of the best in architecture and design with a visit to the 2009 awards lounge featuring the 2008 OAA Awards, the 2009 ARIDO Awards, Best of Canada Design Awards and – making its North American debut – the International Design Awards featuring the best student designs from Europe.”
